Clean, analyze, and visualize U.S. economic data; conduct literature reviews and code checks for research projects. Strengthened proficiency in R, Stata, and Python while engaging with quantitative research on manufacturing, skilled immigration, and economic dynamism.
Modeled and interpreted data for four articles examining U.S. manufacturing, covering import reliance, employment statistics issues, post-COVID growth patterns, and the boom in aerospace and AI-related manufacturing despite overall sectoral weakness. Cited in Politico, Manufacturing.net, and Edward Conard’s Macro Roundup.
Co-authored two comment letters on H-1B visa lottery and wage level reforms. Resampled historical H-1B applications to simulate alternative allocation schemes in support of EIG’s policy recommendations. Published articles on H-1B reform through EIG’s Substack and Manhattan Institute’s City Journal. Provided comments on H-1B policy for Newsweek.

Research and Policy Intern

Jan – June 2025

Co-authored a report using a random forest model to analyze retirement inequality between urban and rural communities.
Built two public-facing web interfaces in R: one tracking the effects of the Trump administration’s tariff regime across 15 indicators, and another visualizing worker characteristics excluded from income-based noncompete bans.
Prepared policy memos and case studies for congressional offices in support of permanently renewing the Opportunity Zones tax incentive under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Built an ArcGIS map that accurately identified all eligible OZ tracts under the new policy months ahead of official Treasury guidance.

Worked on the Technology Investment desk with a focus on semiconductors. Performed due diligence on major Chinese LiDAR, laser equipment, and electric vehicle firms. Produced reports on their competitiveness against foreign peers in innovation and market share.
Studied Chinese government directives, U.S. congressional bills, and American think tank reports to assess the impact of industrial policy and foreign export controls on the Chinese LiDAR and EV sectors. Analyzed trade patterns of semiconductor commodities.

Chairman of one of the seven parties in the Political Union, December 2022 to May 2023. Set resolutions for and presided over weekly debates covering civil disobedience, globalization, and technological progress, with around 40 attendees.
Social Head, May to December 2022; May to December 2024. Organized refreshments and social activities for debates, alumni reunions, and cross-organizational mixers with up to 80 people in attendance.
Chief organizer of the vigil for 2022 Ürümqi fire victims and a demonstration against Chinese COVID policies and human rights abuses. Mobilized over 100 students and faculty and received mentions in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
